HUSQVARNA Unveils 401 VITPILEN and 401 SVARTPILEN

Husqvarna Motorcycles is proud to announce that it has unveiled three new street

models at the International motorcycle Expo EICMA. With 111 years of heritage in

both street and offroad motorcycling, Husqvarna today makes its return to the street

segment delivering machinery featuring the finest characteristics - clean bodywork,

state-of-the-art technology and functional Swedish inspired design.

With the unveiling of Husqvarna’s new concept bikes, the
401 VITPILEN and 401 SVARTPILEN, we have a small glimpse of what the future street chapters will look like. Inspired by the rebellious spirit of the golden age of the brand in the 60s and 70s, these concept machines are true Husqvarna – high quality motorcycles with a rich sense of heritage.

The Husqvarna 401 VITPILEN (Swedish for ‘White Arrow’) draws on the DNA of the pioneering 1953 Silverpilen. With a ground-breaking design in its own right – interpreting the functional simplicity of the classic Silverpilen – it combines modern technology, cutting-edge design and high quality hardware to deliver an uncompromised, genuine riding experience for the street.
The Husqvarna 401 SVARTPILEN (Swedish for ‘Black Arrow’) concept bike is a golden-age inspired modern street bike that draws its design ethos from past iconic Husqvarnas. Reduced to the bare functional essentials, it’s free of gimmicks, gadgets and extravagant design embellishments. It ensures a riding experience that honours the simple idea behind early, pioneering Husqvarnas. With a lightweight and powerful single-cylinder fourstroke engine in a compact chassis, the Husqvarna 401 SVARTPILEN provides a more upright, comfortable and natural riding position – designed to reflect the timeless authenticity evident in the growing revival of the motorcycling scene.
The new Husqvarna 401s are very much new and progressive motorcycles, where advanced engineering meets authentic design. They bring back the honest and pioneering spirit of pure motorcycle riding from the good old days into our modern times

1999 Harley Davidson FXDX

Los Angeles, August 20, 1999 – you can not get complacent we are, and no motorcycle company that understands this better than Harley-Davidson. Yes, yes, we can already hear you screaming all sorts of insults and curses on your computer screen protests, which leads from the red-faced rage. But we must do this because we are on the other hand, because we are funny to think they found the fire and receive emails.

There is some truth in there, however. Harley critics as the company’s products are not complacent, but they are made of laurel and citations. But there are differences between each take exclusively on brand identity to sell your goods, a strategy that will always fail as soon as “bigger, better, faster” came (to the lover, seen SyQuest hit when confronted with, Zip drives ), and the development / maintenance of market share through the implementation of design and marketing principles of tradition and past successes withdrawn.
Yawn. Please point. The point is, how do you connect a troubled past into an uncertain future when faced with the difficult to measure the expectations of the millennium?
With FXDX, that’s how. Building the Dyna platform to perform the requirements of multiple external shocks spring for dual-point rubber mounted Twin Cam 88 is, Motor Company in the face of opposition by a stylish car that dealing with authority, while placing some strong flying horses to the pavement.
Twin Cam 88, 1450 cc Evo-Zilla is a revelation in a sporty car platform. Sure, the engine has proven itself capable of transporting a loose Electra Glide, Twin Cam but in the use of a willingness to rev that FXDX make such a fun trip. They are used by you to short shift will be lost if you do not start up redline, characterized mainly by things wavy lines, an area where this car.
In beefing component Twin Cam, Harley made a machine that is very interesting all the way up to 5400 revolutions per minute. Does not look like much, but if you are in the low 3000s on the Evo much space is used to explore the shift.
Wheelbase is a smidge on the sport to 63.88 inches from the standard 62.5-inch Super Glide expanded and add a little more stability, but with a slope of 28 degrees does not Dyna Chopper of the Year candidate. However, Harley’s first choice for the long and winding road, and with good suspension is appropriate workable compromise between luxury and sportiness. It takes little effort to dispose of these animals to the curve, but if that’s good, obedient to hold the line and immersion with a lot of ground clearance curve. Mid-corner can inspire a little rough things Chassis Bump Boogie – not just a “confidence-inspiring”, whatever that means.
Unfortunately, the 1999 Harley FXDX brakes still brake. Improvements in the works for 2000, but the new brakes to be very good, will not be upgraded first, and now you’ve seen on ’99 FXDX when going deep into the hole. End brakers may simply be “too late” if they try too much. For the standard cruising / street duty of 11.5-inch wheels are three better than two, however, and they perform their duties, but did not get in any stoppie contest because you insulted. Functional rear brake and do a good job, but it is a “government” workers. It does not do any more than necessary.
Rider accommodations are sporty, ie they are not too comfortable. Dirt-style bars seem a little far forward and a little too wide on a stock bike – not without reason, but enough so that you extend to one hundred highway miles. Good foot position, though, and highway pegs are standard, so you can stretch your muscles, if you can not escape through the pass. Doing very well mirror, with less vibration than you’d expect in a 45-degree V-twin.
Harley felt generous and gave us two super Glide Sport, bones and teeth Harley with aftermarket cheated. Both are black, and both are very good from all accounts, experts and non-riders alike. This is an area that has been in the Harley-Davidson FXDX different edge and indirectly in the use of style factors.
Surprisingly, not everyone agrees that a highly accessorized FXDX is the best, especially with some significant differences of opinion about the new Harley-quarter panel of the cafe. Really better than Harley’s willingness to adapt, although it does not exist. The whole package of the curve to-fit-your-handles, billet footpegs to the seat custom shows that this is an excellent platform for lean love with love for shiny and adaptation is to incorporate in general. And everyone agrees that darker engine and bike lean, athletic line is good, sexy.
